We are pleased to announce that Mr. Kiran Wadhwana has been appointed as the new Chair of our Board of Directors. Mr. Wadhwana will officially take up the role on 1 May 2024.
Mr. Wadhwana, a long-time supporter of Bonsucro and current Board member, was nominated to the position of Chair following the retirement of Dr Jean Claude Autrey at the end of 2023. With over 38 years in the sugar industry, Kiran has considerable experience in the farming, manufacturing and trading of sugar. He has served on the Executive Committee of Indian Sugar Mills Association as well as the Board of the Indian EXIM Corporation. He is currently a senior advisor to the International Sugar Organisation and has been on the board of Bonsucro since 2023.
Commenting on this new appointment, Bonsucro our CEO, Danielle Morley, said, “We are delighted that Kiran is stepping into the role of chair. His knowledge of the sugarcane sector, his sharp business acumen, and strong links to key industry bodies in India and beyond, will really help drive Bonsucro forward.”
Mr. Wadhwana noted, “Since joining the Board last year, I have been impressed by the professionalism and sector leadership that Bonsucro shows. Given its small size, the organisation achieves remarkable results. I’m committed to supporting Bonsucro deliver on its’ strategy, which is no mean feat given the diversity and scale of the sector, and some of the sustainability challenges that we face.
I’m looking forward to meeting and engaging with Bonsucro members during the upcoming Bonsucro Global Week in Mexico. I see this as an important opportunity to hear your perspectives on the future of Bonsucro, and how we can work together to ensure a sustainable future for all.”
The first board meeting with Mr. Wadhwana as Chair, will be held in Mexico, ahead of Bonsucro Global Week. During the event, we are hosting a member town hall meeting in which our members will have a chance to meet Mr. Wadhwana, the rest of the board, and the members’ council and share their views on how Bonsucro can remain relevant and continue to deliver value for the whole sugarcane community.
